I haven't watched Bama play that much this season, but tell me... has McElroy thrown to the middle of the field much at all -- with the exceptions being slants, screens and deep balls off play-action?

Not to my knowledge, most have been fades or stopngo routes deep along the sidelines the closest to hitting anything over the middle has been Peek and he was standing in the middle of the field against OM without anyone within 15yds and he never looked at him.

Well then it seems Bama is simplifying the offense for the QB, cutting the field in half on passing downs. It's smart considering Bama's power run game and defense. The deep play-action passes to the sidelines will be there all day as long as you run the ball like you are.

Once McElroy has more experience, I bet they will begin to let him work the whole field.
