Overrated?

I've been on a bunch of other boards (rival boards, go figure) and the predominant view is that Alabama is vastly overrated. They discredit Virginia Tech, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.
Just wondering what you all thought?
In your opinion, are we overrated or are we a legit National Title contender?

I'm not on those boards, but IMO you're full of shite and fishing for compliments.
Alabama, right now, is the most complete team in the country. I'm surprised they haven't surpassed UF for the top spot, and I'm surprised it took them this long to pass UT.
That's not to say you won't falter, but I doubt many people are saying that Alabama isn't good.
Now, I would agree that VT is overrated, and Ole Miss came into the season riding a shitload of hype from last year. However, even if you assume that these 3 teams are not as good as their rankings, Bama still has a more impressive body of work than most teams out there.
What's even more important, is that no game has been close.

Bama is certainly a top 2 program right now. Bama would beat Texas and Southern Cal.

We know how good Alabama is. I take the jabs as compliments really. Fans and "experts" alike are looking for any weakness they can find. Its kind of like the occasional "Alabama sucks" comments I got from Ole Miss fans after the game, in The Grove, yesterday. I just smiled and walked on.

We aren't overrated. The only weak point on the team is that pass protection can be shaky at times. VT is legit. Arky will score a lot of points on almost everyone they play this year. I don't think anyone honestly believes we aren't a very good team.

Bama is playing as good on D as anyone in the country. Their offense looked good against VT but VT's D was not clicking the way it is now.
But Bama deserves to be a top 5 team for sure.

Don't start that crap on an LSU board. I was driving into work this morning listening to Alabama fans calling in to 94.5 crying and whining about the Tide's offense and how its a matter of time before they're "exposed".
Call into talk shows where 95% of them are Alabama fans and lecture them before you gripe to other schools' fans.

An honest answer: No one looks like true championship programs right now.
A lot of "were that close to be great" teams and anyone of them could back their way into the BCSCG and win, much like LSU in '07. It still counts!
Florida, Texas, LSU and yes Alabama or even Iowa could do it. None of them look like the dominate teams of the past, but even the Ravens backed into Superbowl win.

Legit title contender, but I'd pick Florida over y'all if you make it to Atlanta:
• Tebow/UF offense better than yours
• Gator defense as tough as yours
• More imaginative play by Gators gives them more ways to win
• I like Meyer over Saban for getting offense and defense ready for game
