"Urban Meyer's not a Gator. He's a caretaker of the Gator program," Sileo said. "Most times these coaches think they're the programs, but really, the program is the players. That's the problem I have with coaches whose egos get too big for their britches. If Urban doesn't like it, that's too bad."

From the story on ESPN. I know this has been discussed here before, but this goes to ALL SEC coaches. You're not the program. The players, fans, and alumni are- so check your ego at the door or you'll be out faster than shite through a goose.

Nothing against the original poster but that crap with Meyer/Mathews is so German it's Roman.

For all the reason's Sileo stated, this one bothers me from Urban more than any of the other stuff I've heard about from him were true. Granted, if I knew that all the crap said about his recruiting tactics, that would probably bother me the most. But I don't.

Urban needs to keep his trap shut about former players for that program. They are more of a "Gator" than Urban will ever be. I'd be pissed as hell if Saban called out a former Bama player and said he wasn't a "Bama Man" just because he was critical of something. It's totally ridiculous and if I were a Gator I'd be pissed as hell at Urban.

So I'm supposed to care about the opinion of a loud mouthed former steroid popping scUM alumnus?
I love how Low has this on the front page, but his beloved Tennessee signs a rapist, he tries to bury it.

True -- however, it would be a totally different case if that coach was also an Alum. I thought CUM making that underhanded jab at a former UF QB the other week was tasteless and immature -- grow up CUM, you aren't entitled to comment on any players that did not play under you ESPECIALLY if you aren't an Alum.

That of course does not apply to everyone such as alumni (ex. when Spurrier coached UF)

I know Shane, he's a good guy, a Mississippi boy. He, Wuerffel, and Kerwin Bell have run a summer football camp on the campus in Gainesville for years (BMW Football camp, I think). In Meyers' first or second year at UF, Dan Mullen was out watching Shane run a practice and call some Spurrier-type plays...bombs and such. Mullen was walking by Shane and made some comments that that shite wouldn't work in the SEC, it was bush league ball, etc. Shane called Mullen out telling him it worked pretty good for UF in the 90's. This all happened in front of the kids at camp. Mullen (and Meyer) never apologized to Shane for the comments, or clarified what Mullen meant.

It's been a sore subject for Shane since then. He's pretty much a Gator homer and thinks Meyer is doing a great job, but Urban's almost an arse for dismissing the success the Gators had prior to his arrival.

My wife's a huge Gator fan and she really can't stand Meyer...calls him Mr. Personality.
