We need help at DB as bad or worse.

Vigor coach Kerry Stevenson has told former standout B.J. Scott all along that Scott's best spot was on the defensive side of the football.

After a season at wide receiver for Alabama, Scott is about to find out for sure.

Scott will be at defensive back when the Crimson Tide opens spring practice next month, Stevenson told the Press-Register today. The decision was finalized during a recent sit-down with Alabama coach Nick Saban.

"It's a done deal," Stevenson said. "I think he's going to one day make an (NFL) All-Pro defensive back. He's got natural instincts you just don't teach. He's a big hitter, and he's athletic as anything. I think it was the best move for him."

A touted 2008 signee who was listed at 5-foot-11, 188-pounds last season, Scott played sparingly in 10 games for Alabama last season, catching two passes for seven yards. Scott played most the season with a chipped right kneecap, a painful injury that wasn't discovered under he underwent arthroscopic surgery after the season.

Doctors removed loose bone fragments, and Scott should be 100 percent in time for spring practice, according to Stevenson.

So will he start at corner or just be a backup again?
