Best SEC 90's teams?
Arkansas track and field and cross country, just pick any year in that decade.I counted 24 national titles indoor and outdoor and cross country.
Those were men’s titles.
John McDonnell may have been one of the best coaches this country has seen on the collegiate level.

1998 MSU… meh offensively, # 1 defense in the nation.

98 Tennessee was an NFL team basically. We were loaded. The 97 and 2001 teams as well.

Tennessee one fluke season in 20 years and they are equal to Alabama and Georgia lol.
You mean one Fluke season in 70+ years. They have 1 title in the last 70+ years.

1993-94 Arkansas vs. 1995-96 Kentucky would be a fun watch.
Both were awesome... and deep.
I hate giving UK credit for anything. But, that was the deepest roster I've ever seen in my lifetime of watching basketball (my memories kick in around the mid-80s). Man, oh man.. that team was CRAZY loaded. Every player on the roster was a really good college basketball player.
With Arkansas... I remember how explosive they were. Thurman shooting. Dillard pulling up from 35 feet. Corliss was unreal. Those freshmen Centers were pretty nasty, too. One of the best teams of that decade.

1992 Bama has the best defense in the last 50 years?
While I would disagree with that assessment, I do recall that the team ended up with 4 first team All-Americans over the 1992 and 1993 seasons, and IIRC all but one of those starters was either first team or second team All-SEC.
I don't know if any defense has been that head and shoulders better than every other defense in the conference during the same season.

Who was listed as the 2nd string QB on FSU's depth chart for the first game of that season?
I can guess who it was, but 1998 was a long time ago and depth charts from that far in the past aren't exactly easy to find on the internet.
I don't know who UGA's second and third string QB's were in 1998 and I was in school at UGA at the time. I know Quincy Carter was the starter but that's about it.
My memories of 25+ years ago are sketchy at best. Ancient history.

You’re literally too retarded to type in “Florida State depth chart 1998” on google
No wonder you went to georgia

Used to really enjoy watching that UT/UF game in the 3rd weekend in September. Those 90’s match up had some epic games.

FSU injuries 2 qbs gave Tennessee an undeserved title.
I always love when people trot this nonsense out. People act like the Chris Weinke of 1998 was the same guy he was in 1999 and 2000. When he was hurt in November, he was completing 50% of his passes. He was an average quarterback in 1998.

If he was 1st string just how bad was the 3rd string qb that played Tennessee.
Thanks for making my point .

So were the playoffs a fluke this year (and UGA's Orange Bowl win) because FSU's starting and backup QBs were hurt?

I think this really illustrates the stranglehold bama has had on the psort since saban arrived. You could come up with a dozen teams to make a top 5 from 2008-now but honestly there weren't THAT many elite teams in the 90s. You've pretty much hit on the main players. Of the big 6, UGA/AU/LSU wouldn't really have any teams make the cut considering they won a combind 0 sec titles that decade.
Prior to urban's arrival many UF fans would tell you '95 was their best team ever, it just gets overlooked because of how it ended. I would put '95 above '96. I was still a bit too young for '92 bama; everyone knows abotu the defense of course but htat offense sure left somethign to be desired. I may put 95 UF at #1. Also I'd be tempted to put another one of spurrier's teams ahead of '98 UT. Had a 1 point victory over a 4-loss syracuse, 1 posesion win over an 8-loss AU, needed one of the most miraculous plays in the history of SEC football to beat a 3-loss arkansas, escaped by 10 over a 5-loss team in the SECCG (lol), then of course was gifted a backup QB in teh title game. All that isn't to say UT sucked that year, I'm not saying that at all. What I am saying is that of all the SEC football teams that played in the decade of the 90s, I'm no so sure they are one of the 5 best.

The SEC wasn't the conference it is now back then. There was A LOT more parity throughout the league in the 90s, and honestly throughout college football in general.

While I can sort of see a reason for having a thread about the best teams SINCE 1990, I'm not sure why we'd want to start a thread about the best teams IN a decade that ended almost 25 years ago.
If you are going to start playing "Why did we start this thread" police here, you are going to have to deputize some help.
