While Florida had a very good team in 84, they were ineligible for the SEC title due to probation so LSU got the Sugar Bowl invite that season.

That was my point. In 1980 there weren't a lot of guys who reminded us of modern SEC players. Sure there were some freak exceptions like Herschel Walker and Reggie White but for the most part the players were smaller, slower, weaker and the playbooks were Pop Warner simple.
By 1990 that had changed
Steve Spurrier changed the SEC game

7. 1989 Auburn
8. 1989 Alabama
9. 1989 Tennessee
10. 1981 Georgia
11. 1981 Alabama
12. 1986 LSU
13. 1985 Tennessee
(Florida ‘84 was vacated)
Auburn won a national title in the late 50s when they were on probation. That UF team was one of the best in the SEC in the 80s, and they deserve the title, especially considering ncaa "rules" now.

That's a good order. The 83 Auburn team was named national champs in some polls and should have been in all polls. They played an incredibly tough schedule that year and the team chemistry was there. The 89 team struggled throughout the year, but found itself for the last three games.
UGA was especially good in 80 and 82.
The bama defense in 92 was as good a defense as I have seen on a college team. Auburn's 88 defense was special, but the 92 bama defense was a weapon.

No offense to Florida fans but I would disagree with your statement. I don't care what the rules are now, they broke the rules as they were then and everybody else was (supposedly) playing under. Just because the things they did back then are now ok, doesn't mean we overlook them. They broke the rules and they paid the consequences. They broke the rules so they would have an unfair advantage over their opponents. You don't reward that because the rules changed 40 years later.

Miami had - rushing yards at the start of the 4th.

To complete the requested exercise, here’s my go at it:
You listed 85’ UT last because they beat #1 Auburn so bad it literally made Bo quit and walk off the frickin field lmao.
Tony fricking Robinson rushed for as much as Bo did that fine day.

The national title included an actual trophy, presented by the AP. Probation is completely irrelevant.

Whether they deserve it or not is irrelevant. The title was officially vacated and is still listed that way by the SEC record book.

This. For folks to try to proclaim Florida as the ‘84 champions, then why not Auburn in 1993? Went undefeated and beat both the East and West champs.
Neither of course has a right to the title but you can’t argue for one without the other.

No I listed ‘85 Tennessee at the bottom due to their relative lack of quality wins. Only solid wins on the season were against Final AP #9 Miami and #13 Alabama.
Tennessee also had a relatively soft SEC schedule, playing 3 of the 4 bottom SEC teams… Kentucky, Vandy, and Ole Miss. Those three combined for just two SEC wins not against each other.

Ken Donahue had his hand in the masterpiece as well. Just not formally.

then why not Auburn in 1993
1913, 1914, 1957, 1983, 1993, 2004, 2010 - All National Championship seasons Auburn should claim

And then the can of worms comes out. We can all run to our records and start claiming titles that practically nobody recognizes except the team (Or actually minority of fans of that team) claim.
ETA
Your own school doesn't even claim most of those but since Chex does...well, it's a done deal.

There was no SEC Championship Game in 1984. Florida could have theoretically beaten Auburn in a hypothetical rematch in 1993.

You claimed Ryan Williams was a lock to Auburn and was wrong then too. Even made ban bets but welched.

I don’t know enough about the non LSU teams to judge but I believe 1986 was better the 1988
But I respect your opinion.
