How many more years does Kelly get to win the SEC?

LSU has to deal with Missouri and Ole Miss being better than they have ever been. Obviously Texas, Bama, and UGA will be there, but Bama with a whole new staff is probably off the table year 1.

Kelly is kind of fricked with expectations due to the state of the SEC right now.

I've got a feeling that BK's days as a coach are numbered, not because LSU will fire him, but because the man is hilarious and has a future as a stand-up comic. I predict he will have a show in Vegas in a few years.

I will answer and I reserve the right to be incorrect.

Kelly is in a good situation for himself.

He won the west in year one. That didn’t buy him time, though.

The heavy contract did. I believe now the playoffs mean more than the SeC at the moment, though.

And getting to the playoffs may not happen for him in 2024 if he doesn’t get his defense sorted out.

But making the playoffs will save a coach if he’s not winning the sec.

But to answer your question,
He may not win the sec in the next two years. So he needs to do it in four. Keep in mind, that if he’s making to the semis in the yoffs, then he’s winding back the clock.

Alabama
Uga
Texas

These are the biggest hurdles.

in a 12 team playoff era winning the SEC is more of a side quest than a main goal.

We do have high expectations, but we have also had more mediocre seasons in the last decade than people realize. So, just being in contention every couple of years is nice. I think he can chug along getting 10-11 wins without an sec title for a few seasons, I'll say maybe 5-6 more years. And honestly, an sec title appearance in year 1 and a Heisman win year 2 is great imo. But, if he starts winning 7-8-9 games a year the clock will be on. The playoff expansion will help, I expect us to be in the mix for that regularly. So realistically, I expect him to at least finish out the majority of his 10 yr contract.

Mizzou and Ole Miss. They may have a couple of good seasons, but if they keep it up, their coaches will move on to a bigger program where they have a chance to win a title.

The sec championship needs to go away. All it’s gonna do is punish the two teams who are in it with an extra difficult game before the playoffs.

Kelly has a couple more years in his honeymoon period. He will get a lot of credit for pulling LSU out of its worst spot in 25 years. After that there’s gonna have to be a scan on the wall in some form or another. There will also be a lot of hours to see how Bama performs. Because let’s be honest through history the fate of LSU’s coaches has ridden on how they perform against Bama.

And he's already beat them both when they were ranked in the top 15. Bad troll attempt!

With the 12-team playoff, I would think either an SEC title or Final Four appearance would work, that being said, 2 years.
