And consider yourself lucky it's not under the slab of your house. That runs into $$$$$$$$ real quick.

I live in an old house on a slab and that is one of my biggest concerns. Been here for 32 years and have only had one clog that required a plumber to handle in the main sewer line. Luckily the broken piece was away from the house about 3 ft. down under the front lawn.

All other smaller clogs I handled myself.

I've handled many a claim in South Florida where the cost to remove and replace the cast iron pipes is more than $50K. Then there is the cost to repair all the collateral damage to floors, bathrooms and kitchen accessing the pipes. The last few years you couldn't find an insurance company to take on a risk built prior to 1975. Now they are all just limiting coverage to $10K in exchange for a premium credit.
