Just throwing up a quick formula that rewards 1 point for each NCAA Tournament appearance, 3 points for each College World Series appearance, and 10 points for each national title, it looks like this:

I think SEC titles should count 2 points as well

Texas = 231 in this calculation

63 NCAA appearances = 63
36 trips to Omaha = 108
6 National Titles = 60

Texas actually has 38 trips to Omaha

This. Some factor of not just going 2 and Q in Omaha

We have 2 titles and 4 runner ups. Have the most consecutive postseason wins in ncaa history and most consecutive wins in Omaha.

So I looked at how things look just in the Super Regional Era (1999-2023):

1 pt for a season ending with an NCAA Regional loss
2 pts for a season ending with a loss in the Super Regionals
5 pts for a season ending with a loss in the CWS, but not making it to the Championship series
8 pts for a seasons ending with a loss in the Championship Series
20 pts for a season ending with a National title

1. LSU- 112
2. Texas- 102
3. S Carolina- 87
4. Florida- 83
5. Vanderbilt- 79
6. Miss St- 60
7. Arkansas- 55
8. Ole Miss- 48
9. Texas A&M- 39
10. Oklahoma- 29
11. Georgia- 26
12. Tennessee- 24
13. Auburn- 23
14. Alabama- 21
15. Missouri- 9
16. Kentucky- 8

Seems legit. Considering Ole miss didn't really start caring about baseball until 2003 or so.

This is a pretty good list. The only tweak I would make would require a lot of work, and I'm not sure it is worth the effort.

There is a big difference between 2 & Q and finishing in 3rd place..
but there is no difference in the number of points you would receive in your calculation.

Therefore.. maybe something like this..

1 pt for a season ending with an NCAA Regional loss
2 pts for a season ending with a loss in the Super Regionals
4 pts for a season ending in 7th Place
6 pts for a season ending in 5th Place
8 pts for a season ending in 3rd Place
10 pts for a season ending in 2nd Place
20 pts for a season ending in 1st Place

Including Texas and Oklahoma...........

"Historically by success" is defined by more than just CWS titles, although that's the ultimate award. Overall winning, appearances in the CWS, conference titles, etc., must be taken into account.

Therefore, JetDawg's ranking of the most successful baseball programs within the SEC are...................

#1 -- Texas (38 appearances, 6x CWS champs)
#2 -- LSU (19 appearances, 7x CWS champs)
#3 -- Oklahoma (11 appearances, 2x CWS champs)
#4 -- South Carolina (11 appearances, 2x CWS champs)
#5 -- Florida (13 appearances, 1x CWS champ)
#6 -- Mississippi State (12 appearances, 1x CWS champ)
#7 -- Vanderbilt (5 appearances, 2x CWS champs)
#8 -- Georgia (6 appearances, 1x CWS champs
#9 -- Arkansas (11 appearances, 2x CWS runner-ups)
#10 - Alabama (5 appearances, 2x CWS runner-ups)

FYI, my info is from the SEC Network, which I would think gets it straight from the SEC. Interesting.

OLE MISS would be tied with UGA according to those metrics, booting the gumps out of top 10

I'm not sure how to incorporate it into your formula except for maybe historical attendance but I think Miss St should get some credit for creating the raucous gameday atmosphere and encouraging tailgating for baseball. LSU has matched or maybe surpassed them but it was State that drew the template for SEC baseball.

I am sorry..there is zero way you put LSU above Texas....

yes...same number of titles, but UT has 38 CWS Appearances. Basically thats 6 national titles with 38 elite 8's. That is more impressive that 6 national titles and 21 elite 8's. #1 on that list shouldnt be up for debate

I feel like we're overrating OU.

Over the last 25 years:
-5 Regional Wins
-0 Regular Seasons Titles
-2 CWS Appearances

State isn't 2. Probably 4 or 5 depending on how you weight some things vs. Florida for on field results.

If we're talking pure tradition and the general sentiment around "program" then yea, I could see State at 2 easily alongside LSU.
