I have already said they have good pitching. I guess you missed that part though?

You also said this the sentence before it:

quote:

Outside of Hagen Smith(best pitcher in NCAA) who else do they have?

So you did say we had only one guy. If you're gonna troll, by all means troll. Don't pussy out when you get called a dumbass.

quote:

What have they won? They have as many national titles as Tennessee, and has only made the championship game one more time than the Vols. Everyone wants to point out how the Vols have no titles in baseball, but they did have more SEC tournament titles than the Hogs and only have 2 more regular season SEC titles than the Vols.

So I ask again, what exactly have they won? Theirs an argument to be had they are the biggest choke artist of anyone in the SEC. Win alot of games in regular season, but shite the bed every year in the NCAA tournament.

The "they just know how to win" was pertaining to getting it done this season, despite our glaring offensive deficits. A 40–9 record is most unexpected of a team that can't consistently score and goes up shite creek when a pitcher is having a bad day. Surely you understand that it wasn't about our aggregate baseball history. You go on this diatribe about history in the SECT, and the SECT doesn't even mean anything in baseball and basketball, aside from jockeying for a better seeding. Arkansas and Tennessee have been above needing that for the most part as of late.

quote:

Vitello and DVH were about the same age when they started at Arkansas and Tennessee. Vitello may had been a little younger, but you get the point. I honestly believe Vitello will win a National Title by time he is 63 years old.

Fully agreed. Vitello has a much higher upside, given how much longer he has to get the work done. Then again, NCs are elusive, and baseball is the most fickle bitch of them all.

quote:

This is a lie. I clearly remeber DVH abusing Kopps in the SEC tournament just so they could win it. Kopps pitched 6 innings in 3 days with 1 day rest in between.

I don't even know if this is actually true, but Kopps was 24 years old and was the best pitcher in the nation being used as a closer. He could handle six whole innings over three days. It's interesting you chose this and not the third NC State game in the Supers where DVH had him pitch the entire game - which was really the only time he overly stretched anyone out over the season, but we'd been dealing with fluke injuries that left us desperate.

quote:

But yo answer your question, Arkansas has twice as many NCAA appearances as the Vols, but have only made the championship game 1 more time than the Vols. Since Vitello has come on board, he has as many NCAA Appearances as DVH since 2018.

Truthfully, there's a subset of our fan base that gets really fricking annoying when it comes to DVH, especially the idiots on hogville. Since the dark days of last decade, he was consistently the only coach we had in the major sports who could win at a high cut and have us in the hunt for hardware by the post-season. And really, that's all a reasonable person could ask for. Baseball is volatile and you never know what's gonna happen, he could easily frick around and win back-to-back natties before retiring. Will he? Almost surely not. But objectively, he's the baseball Mark Richt. He wins a lot. A whole lot. But he just can't seem to get it done when it matters. In the time he's been the HC at Arkansas, seven of the other 15 SEC teams (counting Texas and Oklahoma) have won an NC, and two others have matched his high water mark of runner-up. And he's the oldest baseball HC in the conference on top of that. He's good, but that fact alone lowers him to mortal status, and I get tired of fans acting like someone insulted their mother when his deficiencies get brought up.

I'm pretty much never going to want the guy to get fired, but he's leaving sooner rather than later, and I have all the confidence that we'll find a suitable replacement. He's not infallible, and his weird loyalty to Nate Thompson is costing him hand-over-fist with how our offense goes predictably cold.

The fact about this team: We've gone undefeated in Friday games. That speaks to our ace being the best in the nation. We've gone undefeated in the midweek, and we may be the only team in the country to do that. That speaks to our pitching depth. We're 31–2 at home. That speaks to our chances when hosting a Regional or Super Regional. Our two series losses were on the road to ranked teams - one in the top ten. That's why we've been a top five team all year.

But if we play a team that's getting hot in the Supers, we're likely fricked. If we get past the Supers, I'll consider that a successful season. But it wouldn't surprise me if we went two and queue in the CWS if we did make it.
