Poor Georgia.

The run is over, they just don't realize it yet.

UGA isn't going to win a national title every year.

But the reality is UGA will likely be a playoff team nearly every season. Since Kirby Smart arrived at UGA, there was only one season UGA didn't finish the regular season in the top 10 (his first year at UGA in 2016). That means had a 12 team playoff existed, UGA would have been in the playoff every season.

With his ability to recruit, that is very unlikely to change for UGA as long as he's there. UGA will be in the playoff to determine the national champion nearly every year as long as Smart remains at UGA simply due to talent acquisition.

And they'll win a national title every now and then because of it. I'd wager UGA gets 1-2 national championships every 10 year period Smart remains at UGA.

That's a conservative way to look at it. The reality is his first 8 years as a head coach, he's had to deal with the GOAT in the same conference. Despite that he made the national championship game 3 times and won the national title twice. Now the GOAT has retired. He also was the only recruiter who won more often than he lost against Smart on the recruiting trail. If you're optimistic about things being easier for Smart due to Saban's retirement, UGA could take a step forward in college football.

I'm really not sure why anyone would be pessimistic about UGA going forward as long as Smart is coaching there.
