He didn't even try and hide the fact that we were extremely thin at DT and needed to make moves in the portal, "which we're doing". Well, that didn't happen. So how do you think BK spins this to make it now seem like we're not in a bad situation or that it's simply not his fault?

He holds tryouts on campus hoping to find someone who can play.

WTF you think he will say? "We are so bad at DT you should just hammer us all day long"

Stupid post for sure...

I got a letter today asking if I was interested in coming to BR for a workout session with an unnamed DL coach and some GA’s.
I am willing to do my part, but this does not appear to be a good sign.
I am over 60 yrs old and the letter was addressed to “ occupant”.

Do we happen to have a 300 lb water boy strutting around campus?

If you overspend on talent in the portal then what do you think recruits will do moving forward? If you set the minimum now, it only goes up from there. Look at our coaching salaries…

Also look at the 2025 class he is building. Maybe he is holding our NIL money for that, to build the class right. These DT’s might be good but are they worth elite money? You can’t just piss resources away chasing everything. It’s almost like BK has a plan on how he will use his resources and he is sticking to it.

No excuses anymore that’s for sure. Year three is his team.

Ed 0 and Miles won titles in their third year although they inherited WAY better situations. I’m confident in Kelly and 20 wins in two years is incredible but this DT situation is highly disappointing

He doesn’t need to “spin it”.

He'll say they are confident in the guys that they have at that position, just as any coach would. Sherm Wilson is already going crazy arguing with random fans on Twitter when he should be out trying to find a new DT.

Did the portal already close? Why is this question being asked? There's still plenty of DTs in the portal. Maybe there's someone that's being overlooked that's pretty good? Wouldn't be unreasonable especially if they came from a small college where they dominated.

You can compete for an NC with average tackles. We need bodies.

LB should be stout.

Offense should be a menace.

Campbell and Jones switching over to DT. Other Davis on offense side will coach up the new guys on the Oline.

Kelly shouldve found his guy(s) much sooner.
See Lane Kiffen

Another head scratcher from Kelly to go along with horrible Special teams play 2 years ago and missing on almost every transfer and fielding one of the worst defenses in program history last year.

That said, I still believe Kelly is one of the best in the business and thank goodness LSU has a grown-up navigating this beast in today's lunacy of college football.

But, to pay any of these DT's their demands wouldve been a mistake in the long run.
Its unfortunate that OU landed Williams because the Tigers play them this year, He's a really good player. But OU will regret this in the longer term imo; especially if it doesnt work out as planned. Injury etc...

It simply wasnt worth it, imo. Sometimes you have to grin and bear it, Like walking away from that dream house or the new job offer.

The Tigers need Guillory and Paz to stay healthy and work their tails off.
Still believing in the 2024 Tigers.

Well we learned a valuable lesson that you jump on positions of need in the initial portal period, because when the spring portal opens teams will be desperate and overpay for lesser talent.

I don't think we even had Bo on board when the first portal opened so that put us in a difficult spot.

Find a Claude Wroten out in the swamps and get him in over the summer.

i am sure that LSU has some sort of structure for NIL expenditures. It would have been ridiculous to pay big money have to guys who really have not been anything close to approaching elite status.

I dunno....you can't publicly come out as a head coach and say DT is what you are only pursuing and whiff on the top 2 Dt available imo...unless his hands are tied in the situation which I believe they are but as a head coach if you need and want a guy you should be able to tell you administration to go get who you want/need but I Also don't think Williams was worth $1.5 mill

He came to LSU at the tail end of a model that worked for us. The new model doesn’t. It isn’t his fault, honestly.
