Downs and Bond I agree with. Those are hits for sure. The others, either were not starters or never saw the field for one play other than mop up duty when we were multiple touchdowns ahead teams like LSU and so on.
We have a handful on that list that are similar stature so we will see what happens.
I guess what I’m saying is, we all see you’re scared and I was trying to comfort you. So frick off

No one is scared of Alabama.
Loss to Michigan
No Saban
Poached roster
Absolutely no one!

And you'll be the first one to say when DeBoer is winning that "oh, he's winning with Sabans great players"

LSU lost their OC to the NFL draft and had a spring game defensive performance reminiscent of Matt House.
Lots of luck.
Lots of luck.

I think those expecting Bama to fall off a cliff are going to be disappointed. Bama still has more talent then every other team in the nation with the possible exceptions of UGA and OSU. Deboer is excellent at coaching players on his roster and he's left with more talent than he's ever had before.
Bama is going to be good this upcoming year.
Where Bama might falter (and it's very much a "might" not a "will" at this point) is with acquiring and keeping talent going forward. Saban wasn't just good at bringing talent in, he was exceptional. If Deboer isn't also exceptional, as time passes more and more teams will have equal or superior talent to Bama.
But that won't show up next year all at once. It will be a gradual shift over time.

This is the part I want to get clear before the season starts so we can keep the same argument after knowing the season’s outcome. Are these Saban’s players that DeBoer inherited? Or is this a transfer portal decimated roster that DeBoer had to re-recruit and then add pieces to?

Completely agree. Im fully expecting a gradual talent decline from #1-2 overall to more of a top 10 program that can play with anyone but isn’t mauling you with a pure talent domination. Where I expect to partially overcome the talent drop is DeBoer is very good at roster/talent development, scheme, and winning big games. That wont be enough to win 6 titles in 15 years but top 10 talent with great coaching should be a consistent playoff team with title potential.

Alabama fans claimed this for the first 7 years of Miles' tenure at LSU.

So, 5 top 40 portal kids out and 4* (one they just got back) in. Doesn't sound so bad.
Outside of Downs and to a lesser extent Bond, not a lot of crucial loss.
