How?

Bama fans tell me that Nick Saban founded LSU in 2001 so this can't be right. They would never lie.

Well, when your opponents are the Young Men's Gymnastic Club-New Orleans* I can see why they won 10 games. And still didn’t win the conference that year.

Probably because it would be 50 years before LSU had another season of 10+ wins after 1908. Prior to Saban's arrival in 2000, LSU had just five seasons of 10 wins or more:

1908
1958
1961
1987
1996

LSU has had 13 seasons of 10 wins or more since the turn of the century. One could say that Saban's arrival had a lot to do with the turn around in success.
