If so, why the frick did you create some of these weirdos here?

Chemical experimentation during college most likely.

On a serious note though, what do the Kelce brothers think about the most important issue facing us today? The mysterious staircases people keep finding in forests.

You're completely proving my point though, as you can tell a lot about the shape of your surface based on the context of what's above it.

If you want to talk about terrestrial measurement we could discuss reciprocal zenith angles showing that down is converging, and that up is radially diverging.

Yes please go ahead

Diagrams will help if you can provide some

I'm going to assume you're familiar with them.

We have 2 theodolites greater than one mile apart. We set them plumb at each location. Then we go to one of them. From here we measure from straight up, down to the 2nd theodolite and record that angle. We then go to 2nd teodolite and do the same back to the first.

We sum those angles. Now this measurement does not assume a shape, so we cannot be begging the question of the shape of the surface. We just need to know basic geometry.

Which means that no matter what the altitude difference is between the 2 stations that a flat earth would make it to where the sum of these angles would be 180. If the Earth were concave, then it would be less than 180 degrees.

But the Earth always measures greater than 180 degrees using this measurement, at all locations and this is not direction dependent. Meaning that the shape of the earth can only be roughly spherical.

Addendum: don't forget the average condition of the atmosphere favors light to bend down on average, which would not create an illusion of downward curve but rather make a flat earth look concave.

I just love empirical evidence. Now I understand all those lunar eclipses.

For the record, RTRnFlorida is a very suspicious new poster. Also for the record, anyone who references what the Kelce brothers think or say should be beaten with a pillowcase full of Kelce bobblehead dolls.

I'm guessing he's running that argument by a flerf discord.

What is wrong with you.

I asked politely for diagrams, you just gave me a wall of geometry .

You have to realize that I took geometry in TENTH GRADE which was the 1987-88 school year

frick

M,

It's easy enough to understand, I'm sorry I made the assumption you were geometrically literate. I'll draw you some pictures on paint later tonight. I'm surprised you don't seem to have investigated the legitimacy of a flat earth, since you hold that position.

You implied that with a typical response that flat earthers give. Please don't tell me you're a Bevite and are going to pull the whole "Earth isn't flat, it's got mountainsand valleys" crap.

If I'm wrong though I'd love to hear what your position on the shape of the earth is.

You accidentally made an actual flat earther argument and I mistook you for one. My bad.

This stuff is hilarious. Ask a deep sea mariner about great circle navigation and why it's used. Ask if ships transit East to West on a straight course or a course that requires constant arc adjustments over distance. I've shown FE people in person using a ball and/or a disc and they never have an answer, ever.

I believe this

Your name is HOGNUTZ and you sit around debating geography and navigation with people . Do you smoke a pipe and adjust your cravat while doing so.

LOL
