Vitello isn’t leaving what he’s built for a worse team and situation in Austin. Tennessee is building him a new stadium

Yea I guess in theory he could leave for “greener pastures”, but currently Tony Vitello is being given whatever he asks for from Tennessee. He basically had full reign on designing the additions to our baseball stadium.
Plus, let’s be real, Tennessee baseball is becoming a perfectly fine baseball head coaching job for one to potentially have overall. Things change. We just aren’t a pushover, poorly attended/supported cellar dwelling SEC baseball program anymore. Add in our recent successes and the NIL landscape now, I am very optimistic of the trend of elite in state targets continuing to now choose Tennessee baseball over Vanderbilt-something that just wasn’t happening at all 5 years ago even. Nevermind the fact that the HS baseball talent found throughout Tennessee alone each class gives the program an excellent foundational base from which to start constructing their roster each year around.
He (and to a diminished degree Rod Delmonico) has proven the Tennessee baseball job isn’t exactly “the worst” when it comes to giving a competent coach a chance to build a nationally relevant perennially contending baseball program.
