re: Legendary Alabama QB Steve Sloan has passed away at the age of 79

Steve Sloan was a nifty quarterback and a good guy. Joab Thomas was the real culprit in not hiring Bobby Bowen. He did not understand the football culture at Alabama and did not care. I think he may have been an All State football player but did not chose to play football in the state of Alabama. In addition to not hiring Bowden he hired a Georgia Tech graduate. He did not understand the bad blood between Alabama and Georgia Tech especially at that time. Bill Curry is a good guy, but the biggest mistake Alabama football ever made was not hiring Bobby Bowden and most people knew it at the time and most people know it now.
