They were using the forward pass though.

How much do you think receivers have grown in 30 years? Football players were already huge in the 90s, it's not like he's talking about someone who was covering Don Hutson.

Uhm the game has changed dramatically in the past 30 years. shite just in the past 10 years.

It’s pretty much common knowledge the ruleset has shifted to favor offenses. I’m sure a 5’9 170lb CB was effective in the SEC back when you could target a mfer without consequence lol

Hey Cobra, it's good to see you post on a Bama football thread again. It's been a while, I think?

Didn’t eat a lot of double cheeseburgers. I can tell you that.

I was scrolling down the list of players in the portal. There is a bunch that haven't went to new teams. I wonder how it will effect future transfers if it doesn't work out for the majority in this portal.

Are you implying nothing has changed with either the game of football or athletes in general since 1999?

This is strange. He played 12 games last year and had two starts. Like are we looking for depth or what? Seems like they would want a more seasoned player.

I would have thought they would want someone from a Power 5 school. There were a number of pretty good ones out there, so this is a head scratcher.

Correct.

"I love the guys that we have," DeBoer said earlier this month on The Next Round. "I'm very confident. Malachi, Keon and Red have done an amazing job. DeVonta at the Husky position, too. Those guys did a great job. It's not even about that. It's just about bringing in some guys that can help our program, help our team be better, give us some depth and with special teams. You'd love to have some guys that can continue to come up through the program and develop."

I'm not concerned about starts, would be more interested in snaps, especially as he progressed as a freshman.

In regards to him being a depth pick up, it depends on how they feel about the current DBs. I am guessing we need depth and someobe who can contribute to the DB rotation now, although they might not feel that way. Either way someone else can still come from the portal, I dont think this is an either or.

Just looking at the little film he has from college and his high school film he looks like a baller. Kid will probably fight for starting time after this year. Really wish we could've added some corners tho.

DBs and “athletes” his size can be a versatile part of your overall roster. Punt/kick returner, gunner, kickoff coverage and other special teams stuff, in addition to DB depth. Never know, this Charlotte guy is young and could develop into a stud. I trust Deboer and company to evaluate what THEIR system needs.

I included this in another thread, but it's worth mentioning here:

Mo Linguist recruited him at Buffalo, so there's a connection there.
