That’s a no from me, Dog.

Oats has vastly outperformed Pearl since arriving in Alabama.

From recruiting, to head to head, to championships, and NCAA tournament.

Vastly? LOL. Minimally at best, and only because you’re taking a starting point that begins immediately following Auburn’s Final Four run.

SEC Standings Since Oats Arrived:
1. Kentucky (62-27)
2. Alabama (62-28)
3. Tennessee (58-31)
4. Auburn (57-33)
5. Florida (49-39)

Oats is averaging one extra SEC win per season, and that’s with choosing a starting point that begins the year following Auburn making the Final Four/SEC Tournament and two years following an SEC regular season title.

Head-to-Head

Oats leads 6-4. A head-to-head lead that would be non-existent if one single game had gone the other way is not “vastly outperforming”… especially when you consider two of Oat’s wins were in OT.

In the ten head-to-head meetings, Bama has scored 823 points to Auburn’s 816… a margin of just 7 points in 10 games.

Championships:

Oats has two seasons that produced SEC Titles as does Bruce.

KenPom:

Alabama is 11th in average KenPom rating to Auburn at 16th.

Like I said, sure Oats is minimally better only because you are choosing a starting point that is 8 months after Auburn made the Final Four and won an SEC Tourney and 20 months removed from Auburn winning an SEC regular season title.

It also takes advantage of Covid… eliminating a March that was about to see Auburn as a 2-seed in the SEC Tournament and a projected 5-seed in the NCAA Tourney and Bama was projected to sit at home.
