How can you try and negotiate a potential counter-offer with your current employer while simultaneously not informing your current employer you are on the verge of leaving?
The violation of his contract isn't just not telling about negotiation, it's about not telling about contact at all.
It's entirely feasible he didn't initially tell Barnhart about Arkansas making contact that he was entertaining (which is still violation of the contract) and then one it all broke he sat down with UK officials today and asked for the counter offer.

Why’s it matter if y’all want him gone? The contract is irrelevant as the buyout wasn’t happening. Also your ad on Twitter is pretty professional compared to media reports by Matt jones.
