If you are a graduate who has a job in some sort of management function then you should understand better than most that in 2024 the place where someone got "a degree" only matters to the extent that you decide you can trust them to work hard and embrace improvement. We've begun actively hunting kids from smaller schools who worked their way through or played sports in college and have a chip on their shoulder over kids from the "good" regional schools in our industry (most of the SEC schools represented on this board fit in this box). And it's served us extremely well.

You can catch kids up on a knowledge base. It's very difficult to take a modern kid who doesn't understand (or have the desire) putting their nose to the pavement and grinding how to do it.

It seems like even having a degree, outside of specialized fields, is becoming less and less important.

It used to mean that someone was actually "educated," these days, a lot of college graduates are legitimate morons.
