Maybe you should know wtf you're talking about first.

He reclassified late, from Class of 2021 to class of 2020

He thinks DI are going to hold spots for him just because he decided to reclassify.

Horrible woke arse Canada attitude.

frick him, he's doing great and crying about not getting enough offers.

I have read up on the kid. He didn't get offers because

a) He didn't play basketball until high school and was incredibly raw

b) He did not play on the IMG National team his first year there so he did not get any exposure. Most people don't realize that IMG fields multiple teams and many of them just play in traditional large public leagues.

But if you read the On3 profile of his high school recruitment, his reclassifying actual accelerated interest from college coaches.

quote:

College coaches regularly visit IMG, looking for high-level talent, which the academy usually has plenty of. The list of NBA players who attended IMG is long. They noticed Edey and would ask about him, but “evaluating him and offering a scholarship is always a big jump,” Nash said.

“He was kind of an afterthought,” Nash continued. “He wasn’t the main reason they were coming here. If they came to practice and they saw him, they would say, ‘Tell me about this kid.’ They weren’t knocking the door down.”

After Edey reclassified prior to the start of his senior season, moving from the 2021 class to 2020, the interest picked up to where Purdue was a significant player and other programs started to take notice in the fall of 2019.

“There was a strong push of schools in mid-to-late October when the word started to get out about him,” Nash said. “It’s somewhat of a copycat recruiting thing because the first thing college coaches ask – ‘Who’s recruiting him?’ All of sudden, you name some high-level schools that are coming to see him, that created some additional interest.”

Now granted with hindsight he might have had even more had he waited a full year more, but his reclassification seemed to force the hand of a few coaches who were courting him for 2021 and that in turn generated interest from others.

People "overlooked" him because he isn't very good outside of being massively taller than everyone else.
the fact he wasn't a polished tim duncan is why it's a story. when it's more obvious it's not really just overlooking. it's a downright eff up.

Edey is full of shite. His team intentionally does shite like that to piss him off so he will play better. Barnes visited IMG to see a commit not overlook the idiot giant that needs to be deported back to Canada.

In the 2nd half until the last 2-3 minutes Tennessee absolutely mauled Edey and the entire Purdue team and the refs would not blow the whistle. It was the only reason Tennessee made their late run and got back in it. So whining about Edey fouling is laughable. Also it’s hard to tell but I think Edey is initially fouled in the video posted

What I dislike is the slobbering over him that the announcers do. Look at all that talent....that isn't talent. That's an adrenaline gland working overtime. Talent is Michael Jordan. The guy travels more than Paris Hilton.

I suspect that'd be hard to do....on several levels.

I went back and watched again last night. Do they not call the 3 second rule anymore? There were numerous times where he camped out in the paint for 5,6,7,8,9 seconds.

I’d be interested to see if someone went back and actually counted the times it was egregious and should’ve been called. It was a bunch.
