I'm way more plugged in to football, but according to some of my buddies who are heavy into hoops it was the type of players he was expected to recruit at Texas. Lots of future NBA players, but they didn't really fit the scrappy type of ball he coached elsewhere. I don't know really, I was convinced he was going to bring a couple championships to Texas or at least some deep runs at it.

This was 100% true, he suddenly had access to players like Jarrett Allen and Mo Bamba and decided to change his system away from the havoc style play that fit hits guard/perimeter oriented play at VCU
