As long as athletes are still student athletes that's going to be difficult but I can imagine in the near future that distinction being eliminated completely.
Imagine Davante Adams deciding to trade himself to the Chiefs in early November.

Might be easier in basketball. Or heck, maybe a guy can transfer and just play in the playoffs?
