Auburn vs Yale in the East regional plays in Spokane.

Clemson vs New Mexico in the West regional plays in Memphis.

Wisconsin vs James Madison in the South regional plays in Brooklyn.

Tennessee versus St. Peters in the Midwest regional plays in Charlotte.
Look where the Regionals are being played and it'll make sense.

While true that's where the name comes from, there could be much better pairing of the 1st/2nd Round sites that would not require substantial travel for an eventual Sweet 16 team to go to their Regional location.

Just look at the 4 seeds if they advance:

Auburn will have to go from Auburn to middle of fricking nowhere PNW to Boston.

Alabama will have to go from Tuscaloosa to middle of fricking nowhere PNW to LA.

Kansas will have to go from Lawrence to SLC to Detroit.

Duke will have to from from NC to NYC to Dallas.
