Kinda silly to give a guy a lifetime contract without having won at least one national title. Self and Calipari got theirs but only after filling up several giant trophy cases. Does Alabama think Oats has that same trajectory? Methinks they just want a guy who won’t suck and keep Bama in the conversation. Especially once the football dynasty is officially dead.

For context, can you help me answer how many games Alabama has played w/ out Saban since schools were allowed to buy players? Your comment suggested we’ve underachieved so wanted to make sure I didn’t miss something.

Autocorrect screwed it up. It's supposed to be w/ or without Saban Bama has 0 National championships since the other schools were allowed to buy players. It also made Saban run into retirement.

I’m not sure this is the flex you think it is. Let’s check the tape.

Bama in new NIL era:
- won 66.7% of SEC championships
- went to 66.7% of 4-team CFPs, with only losses to the eventual national champion after leading in the 2nd half (1 due to injury to top 2 WRs; 1 due to a center that literally couldn’t snap the ball as well as a QB who fumbled away what was probably a game clenching drive to go up 2 scores when Mich couldn’t slow us down).
- continued elite recruiting

Not even Bama fans are going to call that a serious underachievement in 3 years. Weird flex

Its still just called Bama with a head start. Bama has a roster full of 5*s and it's not going to show completely until the other schools get a few years to get their systems going.

As for acting like nothing changed, Bama definitely isn't recruiting (also looking at players leaving) like they were mid Saban era. Bama might have made the playoff this year but definitely didn't look great all year. They scraped by some bad teams and again just road Saban coaching as a pass and FSU's QB getting hurt.

Barner coming out in you again I see.

Think UGA started to understand the concept after this past SECCG. AU doesn’t play in enough high profile games to understand the nuances. It’s ok, not everyone can be elite over many years.

What? Everything has changed.

Will be impossible to dominate the way Bama has in 2 different legendary runs ever again.

Maybe if Texas uses all their money to buy all the “most talented players,” but you still have to motivate those 18-20 yr old newly minted millionaires to win 3-4 straight games against the best competition in the country. Only the alters and sidewalk fans think Bama is going to dominate like the Saban years. Not going to happen…for anyone. We’ll be more competitive than most, though.

I understood the concept long before then, including the 2021 SECCG where our best WR was nowhere close to 100%.

But when Alabama doesn't have 4x NFL 1st Round Draft WRs on the field, it's "we wuz hurt".

I really couldn't give a shite less as long as he gets us into the NCAA tournament every season, which he has proved that he will.

A murderer never played on his team. Only a misinformed, bitter fricking idiot loser would believe that.

Sorry that Bama fans are happy with Nate Oats

Deal with it bitch.

The absolute last school that has any moral high ground is the barn at any rate. They'd hire a convicted pedophile if they thought he could beat Bama.

Murph, you’re having a tough day. Maybe listen to more Josh Pate (who grew up in GA btw) and less Pawwl. It will help you with your football takes and not put you on the wrong side of what all intelligent people have known for many, many years regarding how injuries impact team sports. He has, along with other smart CFB analysts, commented on that game more than once.

Hate blinds people, so try to take off the anti-Bama glasses and you’ll sound smarter (and for the love, STOP listening to Pawwl…no one gets smarter listening to that show buddy).

I don't listen to Paaaawl, but from my understanding of the regular callers, there's a lot of Gumps that do.

Josh Pate isn't bad, FWIW.
