Almost anyone would leave almost anywhere for Kentucky.
Why? Oats has already proven he can get good enough talent that he could win a title at bama. Same goes for Bruce at Auburn.

Why go to the pressure cooker that is UK basketball (and well earned), when he could win a title at bama without the extra outside distractions. Again, same with Bruce.

If Oats or Bruce were to win a NC, they would each be instant legends at their current school. If they win one at UK, it’s “Good job, now go to the back of the line”. Much like a football coach at bama. Dabo would be nuts to leave Clemson for bama (not that bama would ever offer) because the best he could ever be there would be #3 or #4.

I’ve been wrong many times before, but, unless bama has not shown Oats the support he thinks he needs, I think he’ll stay. Bama can definitely compete financially.

I definitely hope Oats stays but there are coaches that relish that “pressure cooker” you mentioned.

Let’s be honest, Oats and Pearl have gotten a few studs to come to their programs. But the prestige of Kentucky brings in multiple studs every year alone if your names not Billy Gillespie. They both would have more talent than they’ve ever worked with.

Why did DeBoer take the Bama job when Washington would’ve had him for life? He wanted to win at a place where internal expectations are insane, same for BK, and any other coach that takes a job in the SEC from another good to great program.

Just like Alabama in football and LSU in baseball, some coaches like being in the hot box. Because at the end of the day, those programs will give you everything you need to succeed and then some.

All I’m saying is that yes, some coaches are content where they are but others desire the glory of winning in the pressure cooker. We’ll see what Oats wants, hope to God he stays

Agree and Nate is already a legend at Bama….as is Bruce at Auburn.
