I don't think you understand the odds of making it to the NFL. According to the following links, less than 3 percent of high school football players make it to Division 1. From there, less than 2 percent make it to the NFL.

There should be more emphasis for life after sports, but players and their families want the money now.

Regardless, the current iteration of NIL is unsustainable and I think this will evolve to something more like the NBA G-League.
