I honestly can't think of another example that fits what Pat Dye does with Auburn. Sure, other schools former coaches make an appearance here and there, but you would never expect them to issue some sort of official letter/press release/email regarding the school's current choice as a head coach.

It would have been like RC Slocum issuing a personal endorsement of Mike Sherman. That would have been weird and awkward.

Even Barry Switzer and Darrel Royal aren't as involved in their schools - and they won National Championships.
