The only thing I can see is that the fraternity may have some liability since it was a frat event.

Possibly. I wondered if there could be some issue if the bar says he was served one drink but his friends were giving him drinks.
Either way, the saddest part is if one of those friends gave enough of a shite to make sure he made it back to the room ok then this likely doesn’t happen.
