I haven't lived there in decades, but the way I remember Nashville is that the downtown area was generally safe, but other areas not so much.

Leaving downtown Nashville on foot, I'd only walk toward Vanderbilt and nowhere else, west southwest


ETA: I'd walk toward Titan's stadium of course, east across the river, but that's still in downtown
