You can't make a statement like that anymore. A&M hasn't even been in the same conference. Alabama and Auburn both have longer rivalries with Tennessee and Georgia.
I don't like it. The 12 team SEC was far better. But your alternatives with one permanent or three permanents are obviously worse.

If they're referencing groups/pods/divisions/WHATEVER, then yes I CAN say the SEC is keeping same states together.
BUT, to shrink conference member #'s INCREASES the # of conferences....& not too many want to do that.
So, you have to work with what you've got.
