Because I love college football. I don’t care that much about the NFL.

It appears that college football is dying and what we will be left with is minor league NFL football.

The NCAA is flawed. But they are the glue that holds it all together. I am afraid the death of the NCAA would also mean the death of college football.

Call me old or a boomer, but I loved the game as it used to be.
Traditional conference rivalries,
occasional big out-of-conference matchups with name teams (where you want to see how you match up with an Ohio State or USC, for example),
the random "who are they?" creampuff blowouts at home (we're playing WHO? The Vermont A&M Flying Squirrels? Well... interesting color scheme, green and lavender, I guess they pull if off. Hey, there's the 4th 80 yd TD run on a toss sweep this quarter- yay!),
the goal and glory of getting to the Sugar Bowl and frick the rankings.

I actually enjoyed the controversy and What Ifs that happened when 2 or more teams finished undefeated. It made the sport feel bigger, as such. You could be the best in the South, the East, the Midwest, the West, etc; and just because the AP said Penn State was #1, it didn't mean that Alabama, Nebraska or USC had to acknowledge it. We all "knew" we'd beat their arse if they played us.
It made for great discussions, and great fan support. We weren't #1 because we weren't the media favorite, not because we weren't good enough.

All that is lost now.
