He can do anything he wants. But he is a public figure who seems to care about his legacy as part of the Alabama program during a period of 7 national titles. There was a much better way to do this where he could have stepped down and retired from the Alabama job and then pursued other opportunities. No one would care if he retired and then did some part time arena league work.

Now he will be remembered as the guy who Alabama had to fire because he wasn’t good at his job anymore and who flicked them a double bird on the way out. Goodbye legacy.
