North Carolina had more battlefield casualties than any state in the confederacy.
None of which matters with relation to what schools should be included in the SEC.

I’d always heard it as “a vale of humility between two mountains of conceit” in reference to the unbelievable plantation wealth in Tidewater VA and Lowcountry SC. NC has some nice antebellum homes but those two states were really big in that regard.
