Get over it man. Eli had slipped. Didn’t matter what he did in 1992, there had been a major fall off. Like I said earlier in the thread, people within CTSN were saying he’d become a huge jerk to work with. It was time. They gave Eli a chance at a graceful exit and he declined. We should all be so lucky that at the end of our careers, our employer gives us an that kind of grace.

Meanwhile he’s saying he wanted to do it for another 10 years while Chris Stewart, the guy who could do it for 35 years, is getting offers to go elsewhere. What are they supposed to do? Just let Eli do it until he croaks? He’s not entitled to that job.

There's nothing graceful about being demoted to part-time work after being the head man for over 35 years. And saying he could "still call A-Day" is a tremendous slap in the face after everything he had done for the university and the community. Color me biased because I had personal and professional interactions with the man when I was a student at Alabama. Perhaps he became a dick in recent years but when I dealt with him back in 2009 he was nothing short of wonderful and accommodating.
