What would that way be? They didn’t terminate him. They simply didn’t renew his contract. What other option was there?

Renew it, promise him the job, and then push him out while he is still under contract?

Renew it and let him keep doing the job as long as he wanted to (he said he wanted to do it for another 10 years) even if the quality isn’t good?

I 1000% respect Eli and all of that, but the options were either keep him there and let the decline continue until they were forced to kick him out of the booth, or simply not renew his contract before it gets to that point. It doesn’t sound like Eli had any plans to step away on his own anytime soon.
