Question - what will the friend of your’s husband do as a G5 coach if they ride that “1-year commitment” player to a March Madness run?

He’d parlay that success into a “big deal at a larger school”.

The fact that coaches b and moan about NIL is beyond ironic.

I totally agree with what you're saying and all coaches know that's part of the business - players and coaches are going to come and go based on the level of success they are having.

In fact, my friend stated her husband's father was a basketball HC at some big name programs and moved 18 times during his coaching days. Some of his moves were due to moving up in the coaching ranks, but others were because he was fired.

I think what surprises me the most is how these young kids right out of high school are now being so blunt with these coaches because 20 years ago that would never have happen. Getting a scholarship at that time was a huge accomplishment. These days a scholarship really has little value because NIL has taken off and big money is now being thrown around.
