God I love it when you post bullshite like this. It is so easy to make you look stupid, again.
It had nothing to do with money and everything to do with control. Donghorn U does not do anything unless it benefits them more than anyone else. A&M was not interested in joining in the network because the donghorns were planning on using the network to show high school games of guys they were trying to recruit in order to strengthen their recruiting. That actually was the final straw that sent A&M to the SEC. T'sips did not realize that A&M had another invitation to join the SEC.
How is that "lucrative" network doing now?
PTT is wrong again
Sorry for making you look stupid

Texas then went to TAMU and proposed a Lonestar Network and TAMU rebuffed because they were too poor to front the startup money and didn't want Texas to have more control as the bearer of funds.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas A&M could have been a partner with Texas in a lucrative television network but wasn't interested in joining the Longhorns when the idea was hatched, Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said Thursday.
Dodds told The Associated Press he first met with Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrne about the idea of an Aggies-Longhorns network about four years ago but Byrne didn't seem interested. At the time, the Longhorns weren't sure they could carry a network on their own.
Byrne tried to re-open discussions about a year ago, but by then it was too late, Dodds said.

“You can imagine the kind of angst that brought, because if you began to broadcast high school football games on a national network, you can imagine how much of an influence you might have in recruiting, especially here in Texas,” Loftin said. “So that became a big deal.”

So....you were upset that a Texas network might show high school football games (which the LHN never did, by the way), so you went with Missouri to the SEC?!?
Interestingly enough, their local NBC affiliate is broadcast from the University of Missouri. It is controlled by that university. That station shows high school football highlights and games.
a&m is a comedy in everything it does.

Nothing in your post contradicts what I said, moron.
But this from your link is pretty good:
Yeah, he didn't say it because the reason is embarrassing for TAMU: they couldn't afford it.
It netted Texas an extra hundred million or so and paid for half our exit fees. It was definitely lucrative for us.

Byrne's blog posting did not say why the partnership never materialized. He did not return a message left seeking comment on Thursday.

quote:Pretty fantastic for Texas, actually. They were paid hundreds of millions of dollars to have a network entirely to themselves.

Thanks for confirming how Texas is one of the best in the business at negotiating

why don't you tell the truth for once. YOU voted in favor of tier 3 TV rights. We got the offer and you didn't and you took your ball and ran away pouting.
