As a fan it's annoying to see a well-respected coach who (a) just committed to coming to Alabama, (b) decide to leave our team already within a matter of weeks, thereby (c) creating a lot of uncertainty that we just thought we'd left behind (at least the portal is closed, right?).
Having said that, I can't call it unprofessional. Obviously, this guy (Grubb) has been very loyal to DeBoer, but he was ready to stand on his own feet: it was reported that Grubb really wanted the Washington HC job. So, it was kinda clear that we were getting a short-term guy as our OC, although I really didn't want to think about that right now: I was very excited about the new staff on both sides of the ball. In fact, I was much more excited than I ever thought I could be after HCNS's retirement.

Anyway, 'the king is dead, long live the king'. Grubb's gone, so be it, so let's move on to a new OC who does not have one eye on the door.

The good thing is that it's DeBoer's offense, so we are not in a bad place. Knowing how DeBoer operates, we can expect him to hire someone he knows from previous coaching staffs. That indeed makes Kirby Moore, Missouri's OC, who was with DeBoer at Fresno State, the logical choice.

With Moore instead of Grubb, Bama's coaching staff under KDB will continue to be elite. And as a bonus, we may get an OC now who stays longer than just one season.
