We should all be rooting for Tennessee in this!! For too long, some programs have bowed to the NCAA, have openly shared infractions, cooperated, only to get hammered. Meanwhile you have minimal fallout from the Adidas hoops scandal, fake classes at UNC, and beyond. The NCAA mission is to "Provide a world-class athletics and academic experience for student-athletes that fosters lifelong well-being." They use this type of BS to justify their existence. We need to support the Vol's in this fight...if their NIL collective is truly providing $8MM+ to single athletes, good for them!!

The supreme court ruled in favor of NIL, not pay to play.

UT paid him 8 million? Really?

Explain. I mean, if your fingers (which are trembling at the prospect of facing Nico) can even type.

As far as I understand it the courts have never heard a case where a booster provided benefits directly to a prospect the boosters school was recruiting. I seriously doubt given the combination of membership in the NCAA is voluntary and based on agreeing to NCAA rules and NCAA punishment the courts automatically side with UT. The question, from my understanding, is the use of a private jet to facilitate recruiting...that has ALWAYS been a NCAA violation. Tennessee is not stupid, they knew it has always been...they were gambling on the NCAA not having any enforcement power...and they are most likely right...but if they ain't they are in SMU territory and it ain't gonna be pretty

This is false. The court ruled that the athletes must be fairly compensated.

The ruling was that the NCAA did not have the authority to prevent NIL or limit it and Kavanaugh said any attempt in the future for the NCAA to prevent or limit it will get shot down.

They never said the NCAA could not enforce other rules. The issue here is that several UT posters are having trouble distinguishing between the two. Yes NIL can take place but can not have the university directly involved. The NCAA is not coming after UT because Nico is getting money they are going after UT trying to say a booster enticed him to play for UT by using said money.

The NCAA is trying to use old rules that have been in place and adapt them to the current situation to help deal/slow down NIL. They can not control NIL as long as they cannot connect the dots with the university.

As someone else mentioned the NCAA is probably targeting UT and not because of some BS conspiracy theory manifested by their fans that other SEC schools are out to get them but because they are currently dealing with a recent situation and feel they have enough information if they can prove it they can hit them hard. They need a big win and UT just happen to be in the crosshairs.
