Just remembered a bit of really weird trivia about Pat Sullivan and that Senior Bowl game. Anyone want to guess?
Both Sullivan and Florida’s John Reaves wore #7. Rather than ask either one to change numbers, they had Pat wear #7S and Reaves wear #7R.

My first LSU game in Death Valley - Oct. 25, 1969 as a very young kid. 7th-ranked unbeaten LSU vs 5th-ranked unbeaten Auburn and Beasley, Sullivan, and Mickey Zofko.
21-20 Bayou Bengals over the Plainsmen. Great game.

He had like 30 known concussions. Junior Seau like.

He had lived in pain for years.

To those of us fortunate to see him play, this one really hurts. I believe he is one of the very, very few players who could play today. He was that strong, that fast, and that tough.

He took a beating, at Auburn and for the 49ers and paid the price with a long and painful life after football.

Rest in peace, Terry and run like the wind again.

I saw him play against LSU. Pat Sullivan was the QB and LSU won 21-20 on a blocked PAT. At the time it was a rare day game in Tiger stadium.

RIP

My dad's favorite player growing up was Beasley, so we had this picture in our house growing up. I've seen his highlights plenty of times. Great, tough player. R.I.P.

Same one I mentioned 5 posts above yours. :)

Yep, I was there with my Dad and a LaPlace La. State Trooper's nephew in the SEZ. Sullivan/Beasley/Zofko and Lee/Hillman/Hamilton/Casanova put on a show.

I was at the Iron Bowl in 1970 and when Auburn was down 17-0 it looked like it was over.

quote:

Alabama defensive back Tommy Wade delivered a hit as violent I’ve seen to this day and knocked Beasley out cold. It was a perfectly legal hit at the time. Today, it would be textbook targeting.

On the sideline, Beasley was given smelling salts, a common practice at the time. Sullivan walked back to Beasley and “Let’s go Beaz. We’re going to win just like when we were freshmen.”

Final score AU 33 Bama 28

"On his television show the next day, Alabama coach Bear Bryant said “it was pretty obvious Pat Sullivan did everything but take up tickets.”

He was one fast white boy, RIP Terry.

He held the SEC track record for the 60 for many years. Ran a 6.1, I think.
