Kelly is clearly NOT coveted. Michigan didn't want him, and was wise not to. They're a hot commodity atm. Attractive job.

Heard they shot for Kelly and one other coach with NFL ties both turned them down. Money was not a factor for Michigan but they will wait it out two years and plan for the future. This pick settles some discontent with some faculty who feel underpaid.

What's attractive about it?

They had a good core of players last year but most of those are leaving.

The rest of the roster isn't elite by any means.

They haven't landed great recruiting classes.

NCAA sanctions are looming.

The Big 10 is going to be a pain in the arse going forward, with all the travel.

Michigan only hires "Michigan Men". It's what they do. It's what they've always done. Why else would you promote from within coming off a natty when they could have gone after a big name?
