The first offer was presented to him the night Saban retired when Greg Byrne was meeting with DeBoer and his wife in his Seattle hotel room: a seven-year deal that would have paid him $8.5 million per season before raising to $9 million in the final season of his contract.

He declined.

So the next day, January 11, Washington offered him another deal with a base of $9 million that would increase to $9.6 million by the final year of his contract. When he turned that down Washington knew they had lost him.

No wonder we couldn't afford to keep Caleb Downs.

No coach worth his salt would turn down the opportunity to coach at Bama.

This hire is gonna help A&M remove the smear of coaching hire crap that we continue to see on our windshields...

Thanks Nick!

You mean that night where all of the tRANT and SEC-Rant said Lanning, Dabo, Norvell, Cristobal, Pete Carol and Tom Landry all were saying NO [Landry from the grave] to the position and Bama was on their 6th choice?

That night?

Can't be, right. Keep up the fight RollTide1987.
