They had no money stashed away to keep players, is that what you're saying? That is the only thing that would have kept the players that we lost. That is the only damage control that could have been done. Literally. It's all about money. These players are cashing in on a small window when people are still trying to figure out the best way forward with the NIL.
Regardless, all of this will be moot in a few years when the NIL is regulated and the rules are changed significantly.

There isn't going to be any rules to prevent college players from making bank on dollars.

There is no appreciable regulation of this that will survive a court challenge.
You’re like most fans, you’re looking at this from a competitive sports perspective and standpoint, and think it will be reined in by people who see that as a priority.
That is utterly irrelevant, however, when you have players going to court and successfully arguing that keeping them from changing “jobs” when they want to or making as much money off their efforts as they want to in what has become a multibillion dollar business more than a competitive sport is a federal restraint of trade violation.
And I will remind you that the last Supreme Court decision on this was 9-0, liberals and conservatives on the same side.
The sad and harsh reality is what fans want is not going to be given any consideration whatsoever in this, and this genie is not going back into the bottle, ever.
It will eventually stabilize and work itself out for the schools, and fans can choose whether to continue watching or not. But the old days and the old sport are gone forever.
