This whole NIL thing is going to reward the deep pocket schools and kill the rest.

The hole in this logic is the schools can't hand out NIL $$. It has to come from sources outside of the school. The schools can connect donors to athletes, but can't provide any money themselves (beyond the cost of living stipends the players have gotten for years...)

If it kills the top schools, it will kill everyone else. If your program makes it to the top, it will kill it just the same. Auburn's boosters don't necessarily have more money than most anyone else. Eventually the cards will fall. Luckily, they'll probably do something about it very soon because if you and I can see it coming, they definitely can.

On another note, I can't blame these kids for wanting that payout when they can get it. They've only heard their elders and people they look up to say shite like this all the time.

I heard he might retire.

I'll bet if he retires, the Bammers will be in full meltdown.

It already did. You’ve been watching and cheering for a semi-pro team played by 1099 contractors the last 2 years.

Bama liked the old days when they and a handful of other schools made massive, under the table payments/dropped bags.

Now that everyone pays, and can pay a lot more than those poors, they don't like it.

Agree, technically the institutions can't hand out $$$

But, they can coordinate their Collectives and direct boosters and alumni to these collectives for their donations, etc.

Whether that's true or not, I do believe a control freak like Saban would despise NIL.

How do you coach players making 6 figures and up just to wear your uniform with no contract laying out expectations? Every year, you're having to beg boosters for more money just to keep the likes of a three star depth piece sitting on the bench next year. You're dealing with locker room issues because one player has more cash than another. It's chaos and while I think Saban has long benefitted from NIL-like activity, he still had control. Now he has none.

NIL is going to turn college football into bad sports. You can already see it happening.

Auburn has opened the floodgates of NIL money from fans and boosters now that we have Freeze.

You and others will soon learn, it's not sustainable in it's current form. Wait until the softball players or the swim team want to get in on that NIL money. You're just thinking about football. It will go far beyond that. That's why Saban dipped.

How many times did I post on here that NIL has killed Saban and most said NOT TRUE

It ended up being Miami Dolphins all over for him

He said “going to kill college football”, what he meant was “kill dynasty’s in college football and make the game far more competitive.”

Good. Saban cheated for years, so this is great stuff. Second, I see NIL money moving to kids that actually produce on the field. It will be more of a Ole Miss model than a Saban model where he paid HS coaches and parents

Most of our fans don't remember a single thing about Bear Bryant's time at Alabama. They're not old enough.

Our fans as a whole are entitled, I mean who can blame us after this 17 year run? Should be no surprise that kids like that guy yesterday on the Bama board went in full meltdown mode over all this So, it's an easy and predictable troll.

Honestly, if I was a fan of another team, I would be taking all this stuff in with glee. It is kind of funny looking at all of it.

The players will be millionaires in college so why give mega effort to make it to the pros? Its going to kill college competition, effort, and teamwork. Teams with the most talent will have ego clashes like crazy.

He could have, but didn't want to.
Agreed. I think Saban has showed remarkable resilience and adaptability throughout his career. It's why he's the GOAT. He's 72 years old, has nothing left to prove and recognizes that keeping the Alabama football program at the level it has been for the last 17 years will be exponentially harder than it has been in the past. I'd be more surprised if he stuck around for this shite show.

Partially true. It was talking with Ryan Williams that was the final straw. Dude straight up told him War Eagle and Saban packed it in

2 things caused Saban to retire more than anything else.
1. What the game has become. NIL, players having too much say
2. His strengths of recruiting and hording talent, winning on mostly talent; weren't gong to work well in the coming age of college football.

I'm not entirely sure about that.

Title IX is for equality in sports in that for every men's sport that a university sponsors there has to be a women's sport.

I would think NIL is more an individual thing. Name, Image, Likeness would relate to a particular player. Would collectives fall under the Title IX umbrella? Are these collectives under the umbrella of the institution or are they independent entities.

That's the way it was supposed to work. How many ads have you seen of of gamecock players endorsing something and yet there are more players getting NIL money? Just listen to the WNBA players wanting equal pay with NBA players. You don't think that's about to be injected into college?
