Spot on! And Steele was nothing but a temporary band-aid. This guy has some solid coaching under his belt and young enough to do the job. I really like Deboers hires.
I don’t mind seeing some youth in the coaching staff. I mean Coach Saban and Kevo Steele were showing some wear and tear on ‘em.

Now DeBoer can snag those USA recruits that will be hitting the portal.

Should mesh nicely with those 2* WRs from Bakersfield and the under the radar QB from Spokane City College he's bringing.

does bama ever make anything that's not an "elite hire"?

Yeah, we hired Tosh Lupoi as DC and followed that up a few years later by hiring Pete Golding. We also hired Doug Marrone to coach the OL, who went on to steal money from the University by basically not showing up to work.

Florida hired Sunbelt Billy to be their Head Coach! We hired Raisin Kane Wommack to be DC!

They both had similar track records.

This is another win for Alabama.

Yes one of the things with Saban and his staff were they were literally just getting old and the energy in the team was dropping. In hindsight, Saban needed a Cochran around to challenge/motivate to balance out the lower energy staff. Plus, I have a feeling these coaches are going to be hungry to win and it will transfer to the players.

I have seen every hire they’re made described as a “home run hire.” shite is laughable at this point. Nothing they have done thus far is a home run. Their only potential win this offseason is keeping Caleb downs, and that’s looking iffy

Is Wommack a Sexton client?

How does going to a 4-2-5 (which I hear is Wommack's base defense) help retain talent?

I'm waiting to see how the rest of the staff fills out but it's a very mid recruiting staff in comparison to Auburn and the other high-end programs.

Wommack gave up 52 points to a Texas State team with TJ Findley at quarterback

Caleb Downs is from a football family. His brother is in the NFL, his uncle is Dre Bly, his parents were college athletes, etc. The kid came to Bama to be coached by the best. I think he's gone.

I think Bama is going to be a scrappy team under DeBoer but until DeBoer proves to be elite in the SEC we won't be overwhelming anyone talent-wise.
