Alabama barely made the playoffs this past year when better at all of these areas. Where do you think Alabama will be improved at?
Well offense will be better first of all. We have a offense minded coach and a good portion of our offensive starters are still on campus so the bleeding players dry statement you made is somewhat disingenuous.

That said, the assistant coaching staff will not be as good.
That's quite an exaggeration as well. Our current staff under Saban wasn't the best if we are being honest and a majority of the coaches KD is bringing has coached with him for years. I think our supporting staff would be quite an upgrade over what he had especially offensively. Defensive wise remains to be seen.

. DeBoer is bringing in his defensive staff from a team that finished out of the top 50 in total defense (Alabama was 18th last season)
5. Washington was not top 50 in red zone defense
Good thing he is going to a school with significantly more talent than he had at Washington

Yeah. I can easily see how your offense would be better, no doubt.
However, you are losing two major depthe pieces at QB. (Buchner and Holstein) Grante they probably did not play last season but if Milroe gets hurt it could be a major conern. In order to run DeBoer's offense he is used to having Penix.
Roydell Williams loss could be big....but i think Haynes is great and will be an upgrade. (I have heard some rumblings that Haynes might be considering leaving but I file that under wishful thinking by other fan bases)
Bonds, Brooks, Benson, and Preston are major losses...IF THEY LEAVE.
And losing Niblack would be bad, as well.
Ferguson on the Oline could be a loss, and the jury is out on McLaughlin. He was pretty bad at center, but if Saban didn't replac him it might be a sign that nobody was better than him.
I don't see where my offensive bleeding comment is disingenuous at all. In order to run DeBoer's offense well you need an elite QB and some very good receivers.
quote:I get that, but they were not good defensively in the PAC12. Not good at all. Nobody on his staff was as good as Robinson. His staff did not recruit well. That may have been a case of it being Washington, or they may not recruit well. They don't have ties to this section of the country, either.

quote:Absolutely. And if talent was the problem, then Alabama might be alright. If coaching was the problem all the talent in the world won't save you. See: LSU.

I am not trying to troll you.....if I were you, I would keep in mind some things. If you stay in an echo chamber (Alabama board and talking to just Alabama fans) then you will get nothing but sunshine pumpers and people looking at the glass half full. (Summer of George is the exception) I also would reject the trolls on this board. Talk to people that are not fans of Alabama, but truly want an honest discussion. You don't have to accept everything they say, but look and see if thye have any legitimate points and consider them. But honestly, if you think the losses y'all are having on offense will not affect your team, you are way off base, imo.

Guys back on topic - Caleb Downs
Y’all make your own thread to debate Saban retiring without leaving.
