Who else is there? What great coach would leave where he is to only never live up to Saban and Bear?! Is Alabama really a step up from Michigan historically? Is it a better job than Texas if you have to follow Saban?
Alabama, as great as that program is, can’t just point and say, “You, you are the new head football coach at Alabama.”
DeBoer probably told himself that he may not have another chance to coach at one of the top 3 or 4 programs in the country. It’s one of the few jobs on the planet where he will come out filthy rich, even if he fails miserably. So, what the hell! I’ll give it a try.
