Pate backedtracked and said that "a coach" will be hired by no later than Saturday afternoon.
Guess I was right to ask why Pate would be the one to break this story. Shots in the dark......that's all it is.

Lanning is just learning the ropes of running a program.
The folks out in Oregon gave him a mulligan when he faced Georgia. But who would bet that Bama fans would act the same way after a 49-3 loss on a national broadcast stage?
